[118/365] – Bleeding Hearts

Bleeding Hearts

I’ve been trying to get a shot like this for the last couple of days. I managed to get home RIIIIGHT at the right time today. The sun was out and shining and backlit these beautiful bleeding heart flowers just right.

Glad I got this shot today, as it’s going to get worse and worse the rest of the week. Fun times.

I keep waiting for the cherry trees down the street to fully bloom. They are just buds still, and just hanging there are the bud stage. I hope they don’t bloom when it’s all rainy and I don’t get to get a good picture! Every day I take a couple of shots on the way, and think “nope, not yet” and just keep going. *crosses fingers*

[117/365] – Backlit Leaves

Backlit Leaves

Ran a few errands after work today and I saw these leaves, nicely backlit by the setting sun, on my walk home from the store. I really love the purple in the background, it helps brighten things up as well!

Busy busy busy at work today. Straight out all day long, but one bonus: My boss bought an espresso maker. Solid, good, tasty coffee at work! Man I like that. I had a couple of shots halfway through the day and they kicked my butt into gear. I love that!

I had good cappuccino yesterday, and good espresso today. What a world! Did I mention we found an italian speaking cafe near my house? Caffe Toscana, just a few minutes from my house by public transport. The owner is from Lucca, and lives here now. I was able to order in italian, maybe not perfectly, but good enough!

[116/365] – Spring Flowers

Spring Flowers

I have no idea what these flowers are, but I saw the sun shining through them on my way to an appointment today and I liked how it looked. I think the clouds in the background are really what give it the extra push.

I am so happy that spring is finally here, and that plants are growing again. I was so sick of brown. Now I have an abundance of colors around me everyday!

There are even tulips growing on the hill below the house, they are looking great as well. I think I’m going to try to get some shots of the bleeding hearts tomorrow.

Yay spring!

[105/365] – Ethereal Magnolias

Ethereal Magnolias

I took some shots of these magnolias on the way home today. There are these 4 or so magnolia trees in front of the local elementary school that I walk past each day. (At least, I hope they are magnolia trees, otherwise this title is WAY off.)

I started in aperture priority mode, but the stuff was turning out too dark, so I switched it up to manual mode to over expose a bit, so I could get the details of the flowers in front of the dull gray sky. I took a few then got progressively more and more overexposed. I like the effect of the flowers. They look like they are floating in a bright white cloud or something.

[103/365] – Pinecone

Pinecone

Had a nice busy day yesterday, I had to take the cats to the vet at 11:15am, so I picked up a rental car at 10am. After that I had my italian lesson at 3pm at downtown crossing, and then met my father, mother, and aunt near haymarket to have dinner at Al Dente in the North End. I was so tired at the end I didn’t even go to Modern Pastry afterwards. I just made my way home with my father and then went almost immediately to bed.

I took this shot of this lone pinecone on the hill near my house. I was heading towards the car rental place at that time.

I had actually seen it a couple of times before and liked how the light hit it, but I didn’t have my camera with me those times.
