I did my duty today and voted! *crosses fingers* After work, I met Merri over in Cambridge at Harvard Square to go pick up some cloth diapers. On the way there I noticed this cool fence, so on the way back, I took a few shots. I used my Gorillapod! I took a few 5 second shots, it was simple and awesome! I like the lines, from the shadows and the fence itself. (plus it’s raining after a nice snowy start to the day)

At night they shine these huge lights on the building that burned a couple of weeks ago. Since there was a snowstorm last night/today I decided to try to take some shots of the building this evening.
I’ve been reading “Within the Frame – The Journey of Photographic Vision” by David duChemin on and off the last couple of days, and it’s inspired me to try to tell more of a story with my photography. In this one I tried to show the destruction that was a result of this fire. I think I captured it well!
[034/365] – Candle

While surfing the web today I saw a great Project365 with this cool picture of a candle and decided I wanted to play with some candle shots tonight. Sadly, I don’t have a single stick candle like that, so all I had to play with was my big 3 wick candle. I couldn’t replicate the shot from his site, but I did end up with a neat effect I think. I spent a long time playing with different shutter speeds and different apertures. I ended up using the TV in the living room as a slight blue tinge on this shot. I’m a fan ![]()

I tried to get some shots of my parents house all lit up tonight. I pulled up the shades trying to get the christmas tree through the window. It didn’t work out, there are some thin sheets of fabric behind in the way, and the light from the candles blocked them out. I’ll try to get some later with out the candles on.
By happenstance, a minivan pulled by when I was on a 30 second exposure of my parents and their neighbors house. I love the trails from the lights, so I spent the next 15 or so minutes trying to get more. I got a bunch, but nothing as interesting as the original accidental one.
[016/365] – Deering Oaks Park Lights
by jforest on 13. May, 2010 in Project365
I went down to the Deering Oaks Park in Portland Maine this evening to take shots of the various Christmas lights they have strung up on the trees. I tried setting my camera to “auto bracket” mode so it would take 3 shots, one at the correct exposure, one below, and one above. I ended up liking a lot of the high exposure shots more than the “correct” exposure. This one isn’t, but I loved the sense of movement in it.
