Montreal and Quebec City

Chateau FrontenacLast Wednesday July 28th, on the 6th month anniversary of my daughters birth, we took off for Canada!  We had recently gotten Gianna’s passport and we decided to try it out.  I am SUPER proud of this picture of the Chateau Frontenac in Quebec City.

35mm, f/2.8, 1/15 second, ISO 640

We had a great time in Montreal, but I still love Quebec City.  Gianna loved traveling around in the baby backpack.  She falls asleep in it constantly.  I was able to use my new to me Nexus One to record some video of us at the Quebec Aquarium.  Gianna slept through most of it, but there is much more to it than I could have imagined.  I can’t wait to go back when she’s old enough to enjoy it.

[072/365] – Backlit Sully

Backlit Sully

Well as part of an assignment on the “photoit” subreddit on reddit.com and part of my project365 I needed to take a backlit photograph. So I took my most available subject, my cat Sully. He put up with me taking the shots and lighting him up with an LED flashlight.

I tried a bunch, but because it was so dark, the exposures were so long, so I had many many blurry photos. This one is relatively crisp, and I like how it looks. He’s a content kitty in it.

Hope you like it!

[071/365] – Boston Skyline from Malden

Boston Skyline from Malden

My parents came by today to see Gianna again, my mother is baby crazy! ;) They were nice enough to bring us some lunch, and buy us a chicken pot pie and some veggies too. Thanks mom!

I have been wanting to take pictures of the Boston skyline from Malden for a while now. From the hill to the side of my house, I have a nice clear view. I set up my tripod and found a few views through the trees, and took a bunch of shots. I couldn’t get any good shots with the Pru in it, but this does have the Zakim bridge in it. That’ll have to do!

I set the f-stop up nice and high, to 32 so I could get nice long exposures. I think it turned out well!

[057/365] – Lantern

Lantern

I’m really enjoying my new 35mm lens. This thing is crazy fast. The problem is, it makes me crave a fast lens in larger sizes! Like.. 300mm :) Too bad I’m not crazy rich.

I took this one outside the house this afternoon, I love the bokeh on this. It’s only a couple of good bokeh, but it’s pretty.

It’s nice to be home, that is for sure. I enjoy sleeping in my own bed. I went out for a bit tonight trying to get some shots. The moon was super huge on the horizon this evening, but I was unable to get a good shot. I ended up with this shot of a lantern on the bottom of the stairs up to our house.

[046/365] – Evening Traffic

Evening Traffic

I’ve decided to post this to my front page, because these make sense as a daily blog post, I’m not sure why I wasn’t in the beginning

This is another shot I took with my gorillapod, it’s of an intersection near my house. Usually by walking I can make the 1/2 mile from the subway to my house faster than any car, because they are constantly stuck at this and other intersections. It always scares me how much gas they are wasting, every car with just one person in it. *sigh*
