This morning was my last morning in Maine. On my way down the stairs I noticed this great reflection in the window of the front door. I hadn’t had my coffee yet, so I had a hard time getting the shot. But I’m pleased with the results! We headed back down to Malden at about 11am, and are already unpacked. I have this week off from work as well, so I’m heading down to Connecticut to visit a friend until Saturday.

I tried to get some shots of my parents house all lit up tonight. I pulled up the shades trying to get the christmas tree through the window. It didn’t work out, there are some thin sheets of fabric behind in the way, and the light from the candles blocked them out. I’ll try to get some later with out the candles on.
By happenstance, a minivan pulled by when I was on a 30 second exposure of my parents and their neighbors house. I love the trails from the lights, so I spent the next 15 or so minutes trying to get more. I got a bunch, but nothing as interesting as the original accidental one.
[021/365] – Dickens Village

So I tried to take some pictures of my parents house tonight with my new tripod. But while I was out there a couple of cops came by, one in a car, another running after his dog, asking if I’d seen a person run by. I said no, but asked what was up. Apparently someone had fled the scene of some crime, and they were looking for him. I decided to take some shots from inside instead of tempt fate tonight.
My parents have a Department 56 Dickens Village set up on the mantle in the living room. I like the way the buildings look all lit up so I figured I’d try to get a nice shot looking down the street. Turned out ok I think!
[020/365] – Snow Globe Santa
by jforest on 13. May, 2010 in Project365
I’ve been looking for something around my parents house to put in front of the Christmas tree for my Project365. As we got home from my brothers house tonight, I realized they have a great snow globe of santa sitting on the dining room table. So I grabbed it, set it on the piano chair, set up my camera on my shiny new tripod that I got today ![]()
I took quite a few long exposure shots, and ended up liking this one the most. My mother was helping me experiment, so during this shot she fired off the flash from her camera from the top left (aiming mostly at the tree) and we got this nice shadow effect. She helped me out immensely! I love the shadows across santa’s beard!
[018/365] – Convent Chapel

Tried to get outside at around 3:15pm to catch the good light from sunset today. I wandered down Capisic Street from my parents place in Portland. I was lucky to catch some of the sun, but barely 30 or 40 minutes into it the sun was gone. This is one of the few shots I am happy with. It’s a small chapel next to a retirement home for nuns. I had no idea it was there, but I guess it’s been there for a long time according to my father.
I like the orange glow of the sun, and the shadows across the front of the chapel.
