[101/365] – Tiny leaves

Tiny leaves

It was such a nice day out yesterday, so we went out and walked around the greenway in Boston. We went to lunch as well, in the North End.

The bad part was, that everyone else had our idea! Modern Pastry was completely packed with a huge line extending down the street. Mikes Pastry was the same! So we ended up at a more traditional bakery, less italian, more cupcakes and the like. I had a very good black and white cookie.

This shot was of some just sprouting leaves on the trees in front of my house. I can’t believe that spring is already here!

[074/365] – Helpful Vine

Helpful Vine

Yesterdays snow finally turned into something! Well, not too much. It’s about 4 inches. But it did stick to the branches nicely. The sky is blue, but there is new snow everywhere. So of course I headed out on a nice photowalk. I ended up taking maybe 200 pictures. There were so many that I was proud of, I had a hard time picking one for today.

I really liked this one however, I love how the strangling vine has managed to hold up this leaf. Plus the nice blue background, and snow on the edges, really makes the shot for me. I’m very very happy with this shot.

There was a professional photographer out and about in my little park behind my house this morning! He had an assistant carrying his tripod and many lenses/bodies etc etc. At least I know I’m not the only one drawn to this park!

[069/365] – Light and Texture

Light and Texture

I went out for my daily photowalk around 3:30pm today. I walked around for a while, eventually ending up at the park again. Damn the allure of the park. I decided to focus on texture today, so I was down lying on the ground a lot, trying to get nice shots of the cool rocks on the edge of the pond.

Near the end of my walk, when I was kneeling on the ground shooting the texture of the rocks, I saw that cool leaf on the ground, so I placed it in what I consider nice light, with a decent background, and took a bunch of shots. I think, in hindsight, that I should have gone with a shallower depth of field, to help the background blur. Ah well. Next time!

[050/365] – Texture of a Leaf

Texture of a LeafI went out for a quick photowalk this afternoon around the park a couple streets behind my house. It’s a crappy gray day, so not tons of great light. I love the texture of this leaf however. I also managed to find a dead squirrel that is curled up like it’s sleeping. I guess winter has taken its toll already. It was depressing, and a bit morbid, so I didn’t want to post a picture of that today.

[027/365] – Texture of Leaves

Texture of LeavesThe sun was nice enough to come out to play for a bit today. I quickly ran out and took a few shots, and I really like the texture of the leaves on this one. My friend Randy really likes it when you take photos at a slight diagonal angle, and so I took this one that way. I do like the diagonal lines of the trees across the frame, so I guess he’s right!
