[119/365] – Little White Flowers

Little White Flowers

Another busy busy work day. I’m looking forward to just kinda relaxing this afternoon.

The only plans I have are to maybe do some laundry. Maybe not though :) I might watch some more stuff on netflix, I love streaming movies, and not having to send dvd’s back and forth.

I went into the Mission Hill church this afternoon intending to take some shots of the stained glass windows, but I got sucked into a conversation. Nice guy George. He had some good advice on making the most of each and every day. That is something I need to do more of. I need to really enjoy each and every day. I spend a lot of time just working, then coming home to relax. But have I really enjoyed the day? Not so much.

[118/365] – Bleeding Hearts

Bleeding Hearts

I’ve been trying to get a shot like this for the last couple of days. I managed to get home RIIIIGHT at the right time today. The sun was out and shining and backlit these beautiful bleeding heart flowers just right.

Glad I got this shot today, as it’s going to get worse and worse the rest of the week. Fun times.

I keep waiting for the cherry trees down the street to fully bloom. They are just buds still, and just hanging there are the bud stage. I hope they don’t bloom when it’s all rainy and I don’t get to get a good picture! Every day I take a couple of shots on the way, and think “nope, not yet” and just keep going. *crosses fingers*

[116/365] – Spring Flowers

Spring Flowers

I have no idea what these flowers are, but I saw the sun shining through them on my way to an appointment today and I liked how it looked. I think the clouds in the background are really what give it the extra push.

I am so happy that spring is finally here, and that plants are growing again. I was so sick of brown. Now I have an abundance of colors around me everyday!

There are even tulips growing on the hill below the house, they are looking great as well. I think I’m going to try to get some shots of the bleeding hearts tomorrow.

Yay spring!

[113/365] – Cherry Blossom Buds

Cherry Blossom Buds

Another gray day (2 days ago now) and so I tried to recreate the shot I took of the Ethereal Magnolias a few shots ago.

Someone had made the suggestion that I use a bit of a fill flash to make the flowers pop a bit more, so that’s what I did on this one.

I overexposed slightly, and used the flash to get things going. The problem was that I had to pump up the aperture because I can only sync flashes at up to 1/200. It turned out pretty well, the flowers and leaves are definitely more defined in this shot, I am glad I was reminded to use my flash sometimes. I commonly avoid it like the plague. (I really need to get a flash so I can use it off camera, or even just bounce it off the ceiling)

[112/365] – Purple Sunrise

Purple Sunrise

Today was SO much nicer than yesterday. Sunshine, really really warm, like 80 degrees!

It was 45 when I left the house this morning however so by the time I left work I was way overdressed. Busy day at work today, started before 6am with an upgrade to our wiki server, so by the time I got on the road the sun was already up.

I took this on the way down the hill near my house, I love the backlighting of this flower, and the suns rays shining in from above the leaf.
