Peaceful Wreckage

At night they shine these huge lights on the building that burned a couple of weeks ago. Since there was a snowstorm last night/today I decided to try to take some shots of the building this evening.

I’ve been reading “Within the Frame – The Journey of Photographic Vision” by David duChemin on and off the last couple of days, and it’s inspired me to try to tell more of a story with my photography. In this one I tried to show the destruction that was a result of this fire. I think I captured it well!

[037/365] – Crane Destruction

Crane DestructionI shot this this morning of the big crane that was brought in to rip down the top 2 floors of the building that was burned up by the 6 alarm fire. They open the jaws wide, then crash it down into the building and rip out chunks of stuff. I guess no one was allowed back in, because it seems to me there was pretty much everything in there still. They have been going at that for long hours of the day every day since the place burned up on Saturday. Very impressive, they’ve managed to remove almost all of the top 2 floors already on the 1/2 of the building that was badly burned.
