[104/365] – Slightly Rainy

Slightly Rainy

It’s slightly rainy today here in Boston.

I took this shot near work, ironically on the road named “riverway” I got a kick out of that. It was full of standing water and all the parked cars on the side of the road were just like this, water approaching a level high enough to start flooding the interior.

I think we’ve now gotten the most rain on record for march here in MA! WOO!

The old record was from the 50′s and it was 11 inches of rain for march. I think we’re up to 12 or 13 Inches now. Not bad not bad.

[092/365] – Golden

We took Gianna on her first trip into Boston today. It was a balmy 54 degrees, so we bundled her up in the stroller, walked to the T, and headed to North Station. We took her around the new Rose Kennedy Greenway, the nice little series of parks that replaced the above ground portion of 93, when they built the Big Dig. It was not exactly in prime form, since absolutely nothing was green yet. The joys of living in the northeast. Yay.

But, we did end up meeting up with our friends Jason and Lauren and heading to the North End to get some delicious food, and then some pastries from Modern Pastry. I love that place. We hung out at the pastry shop for maybe an hour or an hour and a half. It was a blast, talking, drinking cappuccinos, and just having a good time.

Gianna has now already easily handled a restaurant. Everyone loved her, and she was so well behaved. Minor crying, but only because she was hungry, so Merri fed her at the table.

Today’s shot was of a cupola of a building I saw when walking down the greenway. I was so happy to get outside in the nice weather and see sunlight for a change.

[090/365] – Faith

Faith

Another quick shot this afternoon.

I was at work late installing ubuntu on my new workstation, so I didn’t get out until after dark.

I went into the Mission Hill Church for the first time in my life, and sat there quietly for a while. It was very peaceful. There were a couple of people up front deep in thought, prayer, or who knows. I watched them for a while, they never really moved. They have far more faith than I’ve ever had. I have only ever gone into a church since I was forced to up until I was 18, to look at the architecture. I am always surprised to see people deep in prayer, or deep in thought. Churches haven’t ever been that sort of place for me. If I want to think I need to be out in nature.

I chose a nice angle and hung at the back to get these shots.

[089/365] – Urban Decay

Urban Decay

Another gray and crappy day in the great state of Massachusetts! Wheeeee!

I walked down below the Mission Hill Church this morning on my way to work, to check out an old building that is falling to pieces. It’s a an old building affiliated with the church I think. Saint Alphonsus Hall I think. There looked like there used to be a theater hall in there. I like the archway and the general dilapidation of the building however :)

I’m just so tired of taking pictures in the house, I had to get something from outside today, even though it was so crappy out.
